How to Choose the Right Pressure Sensor

Finding the right pressure sensor starts with understanding your application’s measurement requirements. Use the questions below to determine the pressure type, range, bandwidth, update rate, and advanced capabilities that best fit your design.

Start with your application and the required pressure measurement type: differential, gauge, or absolute. Then consider the required pressure range, bandwidth, update rate, output resolution, and any application-specific capabilities. Differential pressure sensors measure the pressure difference between two points. Gauge pressure sensors measure pressure relative to ambient atmospheric pressure, while absolute pressure sensors measure pressure relative to a vacuum reference. Choosing the appropriate type depends on your system’s measurement and control requirements.

Choose a sensor that covers the full expected positive and negative pressure range in your application while providing sufficient resolution across the operating range.
