VN Series
Family of pressure sensors for ventilators with extreme resolution and oversampling to improve synchrony
The VN Series is a comprehensive set of pressure sensors designed for use in ventilators and high-flow oxygen devices. This product family includes sensors for measuring inlet (wall and tank), flow, inspiratory, expiratory, and barometric pressures. Unlike conventional pressure sensors, the VN Series eliminates the need for ventilators to oversample sensor outputs, as each sensor oversamples at 12kHz and incorporates internal bandwidth filters to deliver a clean data rate exceeding 1kHz.
With the launch of the VN Series, Superior Sensor sets a new standard for resolution performance. The product family features a 24-bit output resolution, including two extreme resolution sensors delivering approximately 18-bit effective resolution at high bandwidth. This represents a substantial improvement over other pressure sensors, and in critical high-speed applications like ventilators, this elevated performance can make a substantial difference.
The chart below illustrates the measured effective resolution of VN extreme and standard resolution sensors compared to several high-volume products from competitors. Not only do VN sensors support broader bandwidth, but the gap in effective resolution widens as bandwidth (speed) requirements increase in demanding applications.
